Salem, Va. –
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Tournament is making a return trip to Lynchburg,
Virginia this spring. The six-team, double-elimination tournament will be played in City Stadium beginning Thursday, April 29 at 11am and running
through Sunday, May 2.
The six tournament qualifiers will receive a warm welcome when they return to City Stadium. The stadium, home to the Lynchburg
Hillcats (A), has recently undergone extensive renovation and will welcome the ODAC Tournament as its first non-Hillcats event. The City of Lynchburg
Chamber of Commerce and the Hillcats have been instrumental in the tournament’s return to the Hill City.
“I am extremely pleased to have our conference tournament played in beautiful Lynchburg City Stadium,” said ODAC
Commissioner Brad Bankston. “We have been treated extremely well at our past host sites and I know Lynchburg is ready for us to return. The
Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce and the Hillcats administration have been extremely accommodating to our requests and have worked with us to create a
fantastic championship atmosphere and venue for the conference student-athletes. I know it will be a great tournament experience.”
The ODAC has had a successful history with the City of Lynchburg and the Hillcats having hosted eight consecutive baseball
championships at City Stadium from 1993 to 2000. Last year's championship was hosted by Winston-Salem, NC with Salem, Virginia hosting the 2001 and
2002 title weekends.
This year’s championship marks the 28th year of the ODAC baseball championship. Bridgewater College heads the
conference list with the most conference baseball titles (11) in the past 27 years. Virginia Wesleyan College is the defending conference championship
having defeated Washington and Lee 11-3 in last year’s championship game.
