Forces National Championship Showdown with 1-0 Victor y Over Bears SALEM, VA – Jena Loop delivered a single in the top-half of the eighth inning, scoring Jenny Marshall to send Linfield past Washington University 1-0 Monday afternoon in the Division III Softball National Championship in Salem, Virginia. The win sets up a one game showdown between the Wildcats and Bears on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. for the DIII National Championship. Brittany Miller went the distance, allowing just two hits while striking out eight batters and not issuing a walk to pick up her 23rd win of the season. Miller retired 13 straight and 16 of the last 17 batters she faced to send the Wildcats to the championship game. Washington University’s Laurel Sagartz was the hard luck loser after going the distance and allowing just the one run on eight hits. Sagartz struck out four and allowed just one walk. The loss is just her second of the year as she now stands at 26-2 on the season. With the win, Linfield improves to 44-7 on the year while the loss drops Washington’s record to 35-6. |
