SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Hannah Hesser, Sweet Briar College

Hesser, a freshman from Richmond, Va., picked up her second ODAC Athlete of the Week award by leading the Vixen swimming squad to a pair of victories in a dual meet against Salem College and Agnes Scott.  She capture first place in four races she entered for a combined six total individual first place finishes (three vs. Salem, three vs. Agnes Scot) and two relay top finishes (one versus each team).  In the 200-yard freestyle, she touched out in 2:05.23.  She followed that up with a 2:21.15 showing in the 200-yard butterfly and a 5:31.77 in the 500-yard freestyle.  She finished up as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that came in at 1:55.07.

 

Swimming Honor Roll
Laura Over, R-M Woman's Placed first overall in the 50-yard backstroke (31.72 sec.) and second overall in the 50-yard freestyle (31.66 sec.) in a pair of wins in a dual meet vs. Salem and Agnes Scott

 


 

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Tony Konate, Bridgewater College

Konate, a freshman from Reston, Va., won the 55-meter dash at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University.  Konate, running in his first collegiate meet, ran the second fastest time in BC history, winning the finals with an ODAC best time of  6.40 seconds. The college record is 6.37. The time met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the 55 meters.

 

Men's Track and Field Honor Roll
Jeremy Webster, Eastern Mennonite Placed first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.63... he current holds the ODAC best time in the event at 22.52 set earlier in the season.
Luke Yoder, Eastern Mennonite Placed first in the 800-meters with a league-leading time of 1:57.96... he won the event by five seconds.
Scott Decker, Lynchburg Won the pole vault and provisionally qualified for nationals by clearing 15-feet 5.5-inches.

 


 

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Elizabeth Webb, Washington & Lee University

Webb, a sophomore from Middlebury, Va., was a member of the winning and school record-setting W&L distance medley team, running the lead-leg on the way to a 13:11.24 time.  She also won the 800-meter run, stopping the watches in an ODAC season-best time of 2:29.56 at the Marietta College Open in Marietta, Ohio.

 

Women's Track and Field Honor Roll
Courtney Hartman, Bridgewater Placed in three events in her first collegiate meet, winning the 200-meter dash (27.28), finishing second in the 55-meter dash (7.55), and sixth in the high jump (4' 3.75")... her times in the 200 and 55 were BC all-time second bests.
Michelle Leaman, Eastern Mennonite Placed sixth in the 400-meters (1:05.08) at the Marietta Open and was a member of the third place 4x400 relay team (4:23.16)
Amanda Diver, Lynchburg Finished third in the 800-meter run (2:33.81) and sixth in the 500-meter run (1:24.52) at Marietta.
