SWIMMER OF
THE WEEK
Justine Merritt,
Guilford College
Merritt, a freshman from
McAllen, Texas, won two events and swam on a winning relay team in
Guilford's 118-74 home win over Salem. She won the 50 free in
29.14 seconds and the 100 individual medley in 1:08.52. The latter
is a top time in the ODAC for that event this season. She also
swam on the winning 100 medley relay team.
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF
THE WEEK
Nathan Turner,
Eastern Mennonite University
Turner, a sophomore from
Elkton, Va., took home an individual medal at the Vince Brown
Invitational at Christopher Newport University. Turner place first
in the shot put, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships
with a throw of 52-feet 0.5-inches. His toss of 51-fee 0.75-inches
in the weight throw not only put him in third place over (first D-III),
but set a new EMU record.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF
THE WEEK
Stacy Doornbos,
Washington & Lee University
Doornbos, a sophomore from Roswell, Ga.,
finished first overall in the long jump at the Bucknell Winter Classic.
Her leap of 17-feet 9.75-inches broke her own school record and was an
NCAA provisional qualifying performance, and also marked the farthest
jump this season. She also broke her own school record in the
200-meter dash with the top D-III meet top time of 26.88 seconds.

overall in the 55 hurdles (8.78 sec), breaking the EMU record...
she also reset the record in the 60 hurdles (9.48) and ran a leg
on the 6th place 4x400 team (4:31.10) at the Vince Brown
