Guilford Leads After Day One of ODAC Golf
Behind Co-Leaders Poplin and Latimer

AMERST, Va. --- Guilford College’s Peter Latimer and Joseph Poplin each fired four under par, 68 on Saturday to help the Quakers to the top spot after day one of the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Golf Champions being held at Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst, Va.

The Quakers hold the top spot with a team score of 283, 10 strokes better that second-place Bridgewater College which carded a 293 on the day.  Washington and Lee University currently stands in third-place after posting a 297 on day one.  The Generals are followed by Randolph-Macon College (303), Hampden-Sydney (308), Lynchburg (319), Virginia Wesleyan (325), Roanoke (333) and Emory and Henry (450)

BC’s Andrew Bartley currently stands in third place behind the GC duo after shooting a two under, 70 on day one.  Bartley’s teammate Shawn Harper, Hampden-Sydney’s Bob Boykin and GC’s Colin Clark all shot even par on Saturday to finish in a tie for fourth place.    Washington and Lee’s Nathaniel James and Anthony Zappin tied for seventh- place with one over par, 73’s on the afternoon.

The Generals tandem was followed by Ralston King and Nick Fallon of Randolph-Macon who both shot 74 to place ninth while Burton Wood of Guilford, Beau Allen of Washington and Lee and Grady Ruckman of Bridgewater all shot 75 to round to tie for 11th

The tournament will resume on Sunday with the first groups teeing off at 9:00 a.m.  The final round will be played on Monday with the opening tee times slated for 9:00 a.m. as well.
