AMERST,
VA –After two rounds, Guilford College continues to
lead the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference
(ODAC) Golf Championships at Poplar Grove Golf
Course in Amherst, Virginia behind overall
individual leader Joseph Poplin. The Quakers will
take a seven stroke lead over second-place
Washington & Lee into tomorrow’s final round. The
Generals carded a team best score of 287 on Sunday
to vault into the second spot.
The
Quakers (283-294—577) shot a 294 as a team on Sunday
to remain in the lead. W&L’s (297-287—584) strong
showing helped them move up one spot from the
first-round while Bridgewater College dropped one
place after shooting 301 on Sunday for a total of
594 after two rounds. Hampden-Sydney College
(308-310—618) is in fourth-place with a total of 618
followed by Randolph-Macon College (303-319—622),
Virginia Wesleyan College (325-308—633), Lynchburg
College (319-318—637) and Emory & Henry College
(450-446—596)
Poplin
followed up his 68 yesterday with a 70 today for a
total of 138 for the tournament. Bob Boykin
(72-71—143) fired a one-under 71 on Sunday to jump
into second-place, just five shots behind Poplin
heading into tomorrow’s final-round. Washington and
Lee’s Nathaniel James (73-71—144) and Guilford’s
Peter Latimer (68-76—144) currently stand in a tie
for third-place after two-rounds.
GC’s
Colin Clark (72-73—145) and W&L’s Beau Allen
(75-70—145) are tied for fifth while Virginia
Wesleyan’s Tim Kresinske (77-70-147) and Shawn
Harper (72-75—147) of Bridgewater College stand in a
tie for seventh-place, nine stokes off the leader
heading into Monday.
Randolph-Macon’s Ralston King (74-75—149) is tied
with W&L’s Matt Leisman (76-73—149) for the ninth
spot on the leader board while BC teammates Grady
Ruckman (75-75—150) and Adam Rhodes (76-74—150)
round out the top-10.
Tomorrow’s final round is slated to tee off at 9:00
a.m. at Poplar Grove.
