LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Lynchburg College (23-17) offensive exploded against Washington & Lee University (18-14), collecting 20 hits and scoring at least one run in each inning on the way to a 14-2 victory in the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball Championship.

All but one Hornet who stepped to the dish recorded at least one hit.  First baseman Jon Crews went 5-for-5 with four doubles, three runs score and two runs batted in.  Catcher Justin Kelly added three hits to his tournament experience including two more doubles while driving in four runs.

Lynchburg put five runs on the board in the first inning, forcing starter Charles Davidson from the game before the Generals could get out of the inning.  The Hornets pounded out six hits and benefited from only one W&L error in posting its five runs.  Kelly cracked one of his two-baggers to drive in a pair of runs.  Mark Carlson had an RBI single and Kyle Bradley pushed one in by walking with the bases loaded.

The Hornets’ second outburst came in the fifth inning.  Lynchburg hammered out four more hits on the way to three runs.  Jeff Taylor drove in a run with a single to left field, and Crews followed a few batters later with a two-run double also to left.

Washington & Lee’s best chance to change the scope of the game came in the second inning.  The Generals worked the bases loaded with one out courtesy of a trio of a singles by James Madden, Andrew Henderson and Clayton Edwards.  John Ditore picked an RBI by walking to force in a run, but it would be the only tally Washington & Lee would record as the Hornets were able to work out of the jam.

Terrence McKelvey collected two of the seven hits for the Generals including a double to lead off the third inning.  Catcher Jordan Wesley picked up the RBI on W&L’s second run.

Joe Devlin went six innings for the win.  He allowed one run on five hits while walking one an striking out three.  Conner Thompson and Rich Glover each worked scoreless innings.  Evan Durrer gave up a run in his inning of work.
