LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Hampden-Sydney College (25-17) got another strong starting pitching performance to catapult itself into the title game, defeating Lynchburg College (23-18) 3-2 in the semifinals of the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball Championship.

The Tigers will take on Bridgewater College in the championship game, facing the Tigers for the third time in the tournament.  On Friday night, Hampden-Sydney shutout the Eagles 7-0, but Bridgewater made amends with a 13-5 win on Saturday night to earn is spot in the title game.

The Tigers jumped on the board first in the second inning.  John Apperson opened the inning with a single through the right side and made his way to third base with a pair of stolen bases.   Daniel Prieto followed two batters later with a line shot back up the middle to bring in Apperson.

Lynchburg tied the score in the third inning.  Mark Carlson led off the inning with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Jonathan Sewell.  After Matthew Winston was hit by a pitch, Kyle Bradley followed with a single that bounded through the right side of the infield to bring in Carlson.

Prieto picked up his second and third runs batted in during the fourth inning.  David Toney reached on an error by the shortstop to open the frame, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Apperson.  Todd Harrell followed with a single through the right side to put runners on first and third for Prieto.  After Harrell stole second, Prieto came through with a single to right to plate Toney and Harrell.

The Hornets got one back in the sixth inning.  Bradley led off the inning with a double to right and move up to third on a bunt single by Jeff Taylor.  Bradley scored on the next play, albeit a double play hit into by Ronnie LaBrie.
