Home Run Propels the Lady Wildcats

SALEM, Va. --- In
the bottom of the second inning,
Louisiana’s McCaslin Carson blasted her
fourth home run on the season deep into
left-center field to give the Lady
Wildcats a 1-0 lead, which lasted to the
conclusion of the game. .
On the mound, Carson picked up her 18th
win on the season by pitching a complete
game shutout while allowing just one
hit. For the Rhode Island Anchorwomen,
Melanie Neece pitched six innings while
allowing five hits and one run.
Head Anchorwoman Coach, Maria Moran,
said “We had a couple of opportunities
that we couldn’t take advantage of but
the girls played a fabulous game against
a very good team.”
McCaslin Carson, carried a no-hitter
into the sixth inning. Kayla Jandreau
broke up the effort with a slow-roller
down the third baseline.
“I started off a little shaky but was
able to finish the whole game and had
great defense behind me” said Carson
The Lady Wildcats are now 43-5 on the
season and will face the winner of #4
Cortland State and #5 University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater in Game 7 at 4:00
p.m. on Saturday. The Anchorwomen,
now 36-8, will face the the loser of the previously
mentioned match-up in Game 5 at 11:00
a.m. on Saturday.
