Mattin
Leads the Way in the Circle for the
Muskies
May 16, 2008
SALEM, Va. --- Muskingum College was
lead to a 1-0 victory over #2 Lynchburg
College by pitcher Amy Mattin who
pitched a complete game shutout from the
circle and allowed just four hits on the
night.
"I had
confidence in my defense and offense at
all times," said Mattin. "I know
my defense has my back and I know there
were some close moments but we managed
to work our way out of them."
The only
score of the night came in the top of
the second inning when Muskingum's
Jessica Bosway slapped a single to
second base and collected an RBI by
driving teammate, Mary Margaret Boda,
home.
Lynchburg
was led offensively by Tara Campbell who
went 2-for-3 from the plate. The
Hornets also received a hit from
Brittany Allsop. Katie Bruce
pitched seven innings and allowed three
hits and one run.
"I think the team was
upset that the they lost on such a small
hit, but we were right there in the
game," said Lynchburg Head Coach, Dawn
Simmons. "I think we proved that
we deserve to be here and that they have
earned everything that they’ve gotten
and hopefully it will go better
tomorrow."
The Musikes
(41-10) will return to play on Saturday
at 6:30 p.m. against #3 UW-Eau Claire.
The Hornets will take on #6 Ithaca on
Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
