BASEBALL PLAYER
OF THE WEEK
JEFF TAYLOR,
Lynchburg College
Taylor, a sophomore from Lynchburg, Virginia, went 9-for-16
(.562) in five games for the Hornets last week. He scored 16 runs,
picked up one double and knocked in four runs. He scored at least
two runs in four of the five games including an 18-1 win over Frostburg
State in which he crossed the dish four times. He was also 4-fo-4
in stolen bases while driving five walks for the week.
BASEBALL PITCHER
OF THE WEEK
GARY BULMAN,
Virginia Wesleyan College
Bulman, a freshman from Chesapeake, Virginia, fanned 11 batters
in six innings of work to earn the win a 9-2 victory over 2007 PAC
champion, Gwynedd-Mercy. The 11 strike-outs tied a VWC rookie
record previously set by Kevin Thornton (1975) and Billy Dean (1976).
The two runs came via six scattered hits.

Earned a 4-2 win in the second game against SVU, striking out
six and scattering five hits over seven innings. He
allowed two runs, one earned. |

Picked up a victory in a 13-1 win over Frostburg; scattered four
hits and a run over six innings with five strike-outs. |

Jeff Beck, Randolph-Macon |
Helped R-MC take two games from St. Mary's in a three-game set;
had the game-winning walk-off single in the opening game of
Saturday's double-header. |

Ozz Dhramapitaksook, Va. Wesleyan |
Went 5-for-9 in three wins for VWC, collecting a double, triple,
and three RBI while scoring three runs. |

Three five innings of six-hit ball with six punchouts in a 19-4
win over Oglethorpe; also went 3-for-4 at the dish with two RBI. |

ATHLETE
OF THE WEEK
RICKY FLYNN,
Lynchburg College
Flynn, a sophomore from Gaithersburg, Maryland, bettered his
personal-best mark in the 5,000-meter run by winning the event at the
Carolina Chik-Fil-A Invitational. He posted a time of 15:04,
setting a new ODAC season top-time and ranking third all-time at
Lynchburg.

the long jump (21' 7.5"), his first jump of the season. |

Set a new VWC record by placing 12th in the 3000 run at Carolina
in a time of 9:08.12. |

Billy Billington, Washington & Lee |
Placed fourth at Carolina in the weight throw with a toss of
16.48m (54'), breaking the previous W&L record set in 1976. |
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK
ATHLETE
OF THE WEEK
ELIZABETH WEBB,
Washington & Lee University
Webb, a junior from Middlebury, Virginia,
was the
top Division III finisher (7th overall) in the mile at the
Lafayette-Rider Invite. Her time of 5:03.83 broke her own school and
ODAC all-time record. The performance was also an NCAA provisional
qualifying mark. She then came back and set a school record and ODAC
seasonal top-time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.46.
