MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
ALEX KNUTSEN, ROANOKE COLLEGE
Knutsen, a senior from Warrenton, Virginia, earned his first collegiate individual title on Saturday by winning the Generals Invitational at Washington and Lee University.  Knutsen, who was also Roanoke's top male finisher at Virginia Wesleyan in the first week of the season, finished the 8-kilometer course in Lexington with a time of 29:11.00.  As a team, the Maroons finished second to Washington and Lee.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK

ELIZABETH WEBB, WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY

Webb, a senior from Middleburg, Virginia, helped the Washington and Lee women’s cross country team to a first-place finish out of 10 teams at the W&L Invitational by winning  the race with a time of 24:12.00.  Webb crossed the line 24 seconds faster than the second-place competitor.

FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK

KATIE CIMINI, EASTERN MENNONITE UNIVERSITY

Cimini, a sophomore from Cape May, New Jersey, helped lead the Lady Royals to a sweep of their home tournament with six goals scored.  Cimini scored a pair of goals in a 10-1 win over Shenandoah and then added a career high four goals, including the game winner, in a 6-0 defeat of DeSales University.  For the season, Cimini leads the team in goals scored and is tied with teammate Alyssa Derstine with 13 points.

MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DREW CROWLEY, WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
Crowley, a junior from Weston, Massachusetts, had his hands in both the game-winning plays for Washington and Lee in its first two wins of the season.  Crowley scored the would-be game winner in a 2-0 victory over Shenandoah University.  He followed that with the first goal and the assist on the double-overtime game-winner in a 2-1 triumph over Piedmont.   

 

Men's Soccer Honor Roll
Chris Thomas, BC	Scored once and assisted on another goal in the Eagles first win of the season, a 4-0 effort against Shenandoah.
Charles Metz IV, EMU	Had a goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Shenandoah; Followed with an assist in a 3-0 win over Washington.
P.J. Henson, EHC	Helped lead the Wasps to a 2-0-1 record with three goals and one assist; he scored twice against Averett, once more versus LaGrange, and then assisted on a goal versus Huntingdon.
Will Robertson, H-SC	Continued his strong start to the season with three goals and one assist in only 25 minutes of action in an 8-0 win over Ferrum.
Josh Reed, LC	Scored one goal each in a pair of wins over Moravian and Washington & Jefferson; his goal against Moravian was the game-winner.
Shaman Douglass, RC	Scored twice and assisted on a third goal in a 4-0 win over Franklin & Marshall.

WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NIKKI GRECO, EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE
Greco, a sophomore from Radford, Virginia, started 2008 where she left off last season after a season ending injury. Greco scored six goals in three matches this week as the Wasps went 3-0 for the week and are now 4-0 on the season.  She scored three times against Mary Baldwin, twice against LaGrange, and one more time versus Huntingdon.

 

Women's Soccer Honor Roll
Katie Lamm, EMU	Scored once apiece in wins over Greensboro and Methodist; her goal against The Pride was the game-winner.
Amber Stapler, GC	Averaged 10 saves in a pair of games for the Quakers; made 11 stops against Sewanee.
Colleen Thamm, HU	Scored all three goals in Hollins 3-0 victory over St. Mary's (Md.) over the weekend.
Megan Calabrese, R-MC	Notched the lone goal in the Jackets' victory over Shenandoah.
Meredith Grunewald, RC	In a 3-1 win over Methodist, scored once and dished out a pair of assists.
Anne Van Devender, WLU	Scored a goal in both of the Generals' games this weekend.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RACHAEL PHILLIPS, WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
Phillips, a junior from Tampa, Florida, led the Generals to a perfect 4-0 mark in earning MVP honors of the season-opening W&L Invitational.  She hit .330 for the tourney with 43 total kills to go with five blocks and 30 digs.  She notched double-digit kill numbers in three of four matches including a high of 13 in a 3-0 win over Marietta College (Ohio).

 

Volleyball Honor Roll
Erika Dirnagl, BC	Hit .366 with 19 kills in two matches for the Eagles; had 11 kills in a .500 attack performance versus Marymount.
Juliane Garren, EHC	Picked 63 digs in a 5-0 week for the Wasps; from her outside hitter position, added 24 kills; registered a personal season-high 23 digs in a 3-2 win over Methodist.
Anna Miller, GC	Led Guilford with 41 kills and 36 digs over five matches; she also collected nine services aces.
Elena Kritter, LC	In 17 games played over four matches, notched 48 kills to go with 49 digs; had a high of 17 kills in a loss to Greensboro.
Jill Kubichan, R-MC	The Yellow Jackets' defensive stalwart collected 84 digs through five matches, good for 4.67 per game; she had three matches of 20-plus digs including 25 in a loss to Elizabethtown.
Kelsey Largen, RC	Continued her strong early season with an MVP performance at the Maroon Invitational; hit .286 with 32 kills and 11 digs over four matches; had 13 kills in a victory over Methodist.
