BC to meet Lycoming in Quarterfinal Football Playoffs
Salem, Va. –
Lycoming will play host to Bridgewater College in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III
Football Playoffs on Saturday, December 6th. The game will be played at the Warriors’ home field in
Williamsport, Pa. Both Bridgewater and Lycoming enter Saturday’s match-up with only one loss apiece.
Bridgewater defeated
Christopher Newport 26-3 in order to advance to the quarterfinal game, while Lycoming defeated East Texas Baptist 13-7 in overtime to make it to
Saturday’s contest. Under Head Coach Mike Clark, the Eagles have posted an 11-1 record, losing to
Christopher Newport 16-12 earlier in the year on September 27th. Lycoming, under Head Coach
Frank Girardi, has accumulated a 9-1 record on the season, losing to Delaware Valley 38-27.
Bridgewater is led this
season in rushing by Marcus Washington (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) who has amassed 813 total yards so far this season. Brandon Wakefield (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) leads the Eagles in passing going 143 for 279 for a completion
percentage of 51.3 percent. Defensive back and 2003 ODAC Co-Player of the Year, Jermaine Taylor (Miramar,
Fla./Miramar) has racked up 66 solo tackles and 62 assisted tackles for a total of 128 tackles in 12 games for the Eagles. Bridgewater has outscored its opponents 447 to 151 this season.
Lycoming is led by
quarterback Phil Mann (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) who has put together a season average of 234.4 yards of total offense per game. Wide receiver Ricky Lannetti (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) leads the Warriors in receiving averaging 95.5
yards per game. Lannetti also leads the team in all-purpose yards per game with an average of 164.4 per
contest. Defensively, the Warriors are led by linebacker Tim Schmidt (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic)
who has tallied 71 tackles this season.
