Virginia Wesleyan’s Boothe Earns 400th Coaching Victory

Virginia Wesleyan College head baseball coach Nick Boothe hit a milestone victory on Sunday as the Marlins handed Tufts University a 6-5, eight-inning loss on Marlins Field.

The victory, the first in a sweep of a doubleheader with Tufts, gave Boothe his 400th coaching victory.  Boothe is now one of 22 active National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III coaches to record 400 career wins.  His career record, including this year’s 15-5 record to date, is now 401-263-5.

Boothe is a four-time Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Coach of the Year and the 1998 recipient of the Louisville Slugger Award of Excellence in Coaching.  He has guided VWC to four appearances in the NCAA Division III championship tournament, following four sweeps of the regular season and ODAC tournament championships.

Now in his 18th season with Virginia Wesleyan, he has posted winning records in 14 years, averaging 21 victories a year.  His 2003 team set the program record for victories with 34; his third 30+ win season in the past seven years.
