Salisbury State Wins South Regional Seagulls defeat Emory, 8-2
Lynchburg, VA - Salisbury State scored five runs in the bottom half of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead and would eventually defeat the number one-seeded Emory University Eagles, 8-2 Sunday afternoon at Merritt Hutchinson Stadium in Lynchburg. Emory, the number one ranked team in Division III, finishes its season 35-9 overall. Salisbury State, now 31-11 on the season, scored its five runs in the third on four hits and one Eagle error. Mike Harbaugh led the Seagulls as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI on the afternoon. He was named the tournament¹s Most Outstanding Player. Jason Ewing was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored with Justin Taylor was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Kyle Foster led the Eagles going 2-for-4. He was the only Emory player with mutiple hits on the day. Chad Swiderski (7-3) pitched a complete game giving up two runs on eight hits and striking out two. Emory¹s Ryan Donegan (11-1) took the loss as he pitched three innings giving up five runs onsix hits and walking one.
