The Sagehens opened up NCAA West Regional play on the afternoon of the 16th and fell just short to Concordia-Austin, 6-5. The Hens were up 5-4 late in the game but Concordia scored a run in the 8th and one in the 9th to win the game. Ollie Morrison hit a 3-run homerun for the Hens in the 6th inning. Bobby Boeche went 3 for 4 on the day with a run scored and Jose Cortez went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Spike Einsiedler started on the mound for the Hens and pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 earned runs. The Hens will play tomorrow at 3 PM central against the loser of the Trinity/Southwestern game.
