Emory Eagles, 2003 Central Regional Champions!

Clinton, MS - The Eagles of Emory College knocked off top seeded Carthage College 14-4 to advance to the Division III College World Series at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, WI.

Right handed pitcher Reed Harvey (6-4) was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after earning his second win of the tournament lasting eight innings and giving up three earned runs on seven. Harvey also won the opening game of the tournament beating Wartburg College.

Carthage took an early 1-0 lead before Bryan Langbord hit a three run homer in the bottom of the second to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead.

Carthage would answer with three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead of their own, but Emory answered quickly and took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the inning on a Rob Segear homer.

The Eagles added five runs in the seventh inning and three more in the eighth. Langbord hit his second homer of the game in the seventh inning and Andrew Pinckney hit one in the eighth.

Dusty Reid took the loss for Carthage to drop his record to 8-2.
