Mid Atlantic Regional - Game 6 - May 17, 2003
Boyertown, PA -- The DeSales Univesity baseball team became the first two team with two wins in the 2003 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament defeating the #2 seed Johns Hopkins University, 9-5, in the second game on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Chris Ross earned the win as he went all nine innings scattering 11 hits, allowing five runs, and striking out five.
The Bulldogs jumped all over the Blue Jays scoring seven runs over the first three innings and led 8-0 before Hopkins cut the lead to 8-5 with five tallies in the bottom of the seventh inning. DSU added one more in the ninth to record the 9-5 victory. Sophomore Ian Hauze went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run to lead the DeSales bat attack. Sophomore Dan Fratantoro had two hits and the first two hitters in the Bulldog lineup scored four runs.
Freshman Dan McConnell took the loss lasting just one inning allowing two hits, five runs, and walking three in the loss .
