Boyertown, PA -- The Johns Hopkins University baseball team kept its World Series hopes alive by defeating the #1 seed Rowan University, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. With the loss Rowan University is eliminated from the tournament.

Russ Berger earned the win for Hopkins going all nine innings scattering seven hits to improve to 8-0 this season.

Hopkins trailed 1-0 in the fourth inning when Paul Long singled home Mike Durgala to tie the game at one. An RBI double from Paul Winterling in the eighth and an RBI single from Doug Hitchner in the ninth gave Hopkins its 3-1 lead and Berger did the rest.

Michael Rucci hit a solo home run in the third inning to give Rowan its only run. Michael Sclafani went the distance for the Profs allowing 11 hits, three runs, and striking out nine.
