Hickory, NC -- BThe Mary Washington College baseball team saw its most successful season ever come to a close, as the Eagles fell to Thomas More College, 6-4, on Saturday at the NCAA South Regional Tournament in Hickory, NC. MWC closes the season with a 30-10 record, the best in school history.
The Eagles gave up three first inning runs, and two in the third. Two defensive miscues led to runs in both innings. Freshman Kevin Foeman settled down, scattering ten hits over eight and two-thirds innings of work. The Eagles stayed close with home runs by Matt Lemire and Mike Drummond, but weren't able to overcome the early deficit. Lemire also doubled and walked to pace the MWC offense, while junior Jay Quintana had a pair of hits to extend his hitting streak to 28 games.
