Salisbury Holds Off Muskingum, 2-1 (8 innings)
Erin Ruest's RBI double in the top half of the eighth inning gave Salisbury a 2-1 lead and the Seagulls held Muskingum scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to eliminate the Muskies from the 2004 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. With the win, Salisbury (41-7) will face Moravian College Monday afternoon at 12pm for a berth into the title game. Muskingum ends its season at 43-7.
The Seagulls were led by Nichole Fuqua who was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ruest finished 1-for-3 while Leslie White and Kristy Shaffer each chipped in with one hit apiece.
Muskingum was led offensively by Erin Zupko who was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Leftfielder April Rader also finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Lindsay Bramhall and Kim Tackett each had one hit for the Muskies.
Lacey Lister (31-3 ) got the win as she threw 7 2/3 innings, giving up one run on six hits and striking out 12. Erica Hoyt ( 38-4) took the loss, throwing eight innings and giving up two runs on five hits and striking out eight.
