Moravian Edges Salisbury, 1-0

Moravian College needed just one run to defeat Salisbury University and advance to the championship game of the 2004 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. With the 1-0 win, the Greyhounds advance to face St. Thomas this evening at 8pm.  The Seagulls end their season at 41-8 overall.

Second baseman Leah Holmes led the Greyhounds with a 2-for-3 performance including a double.  Heather Bortz, Melissa Soroka, Richelle McWilliams and Danielle Carrione all had singles for Moravian (40-5).

Salisbury was held to just four singles, one apiece from Nichole Fuqua, Leslie White, Kim Rementer and Kareem Falcon.

Meagan Hennessy (22-3) picked up the win, pitching a complete-game, giving up just four hits and striking out seven.  Lacey Lister (31-4) took the loss, throwing seven innings, giving up one run on six hits and striking out three.
