– Eastern Mennonite’s
Jonalyn Denlinger has been named the 2004 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year in a vote taken by the league’s
sports information directors.
A native of
Lancaster
,
Pa.
, Denlinger is currently a junior at EMU and has achieved a 3.80 gpa while
majoring in Spanish and Liberal Arts.
On the field in 2004, Denlinger earned First-Team All-ODAC
honors after leading the Royals with 40 total points on a team-best 15 goals
along with 10 assists. She climbed from 15th to eighth on the career points list
during the season, currently sitting at 123. Denlinger also moved up to sixth on
the career assists chart with 39 and needs just three goals next season to reach
the top 10 in goals scored.
To be eligible for consideration for this award, the nominee must be a starter or key reserve with
legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point
average (on a 4.0 scale). She must
have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at your institution and
must have completed at least one full academic year at your institution.
Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the
team’s game’s position listed on the nomination form.
