Field Hockey Teams Ranked in National Poll
Salem, Va. - Eastern Mennonite’s field hockey team is
ranked #9 in the most recent National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA)
Division III Poll. Virginia Wesleyan
College was also ranked in the national poll in the #17 spot.
EMU currently boasts a 12-2 record
overall, going 6-0 in the conference.
The Royals are led by Kristen Moyer (Souderton, Pa./Christopher Dock)
who has contributed 23 goals and seven assists on the season. Jonalyn Denlinger (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster
Mennonite) has added 31 points on the season, tallying nine goals and 13
assists for the Royals. Katie Moyer
(Blooming Glen, Pa./Christopher Dock), and Emily Chamelin (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) have shared time at the goal keeping position, and have posted
.833 and .780 saves percentages, respectively.
Virginia Wesleyan currently posts an
overall record of 13-0 for the season, going a perfect 7-0 in the
conference. The Marlins are led by
Chrissy Clancy (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) who has contributed 20 points, including
seven goals and six assists. Laura
Weidema (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke)
has also scored seven goals and four assists thus far in the season for the
Marlins. In goal, Margie Baker
(Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) has given up just eight goals on the season. She has a saves percentage of .875 and has
corralled 56 saves on the season so far.
