EMU, Virginia Wesleyan Ranked Nationally
Salem, Va. - The Eastern Mennonite field hockey team is
ranked number 11 in the current National Field Hockey Coaches Association
(NFHCA) poll. Virginia Wesleyan also
tied with Ursinus College for the number 14 ranking in the poll.
Overall, EMU currently has a 13-3
record, and a 7-1 conference record.
The Royals are led by Kristen Moyer (Souderton, Pa./Christopher Dock)
who has scored 25 goals and given out seven assists for a team high of 57
points. Second on the team for the
Royals is Jonalyn Denlinger (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) who has
tallied 37 points thus far in the season with 11 goals and 15 assists. Katie Moyer (Blooming Glen, Pa./Christopher
Dock) and Emily Chamelin (Westminster, Md./Westminster) have both shared time
in goal for EMU. Moyer has a saves
percentage of .833, allowing just three goals in 368 minutes of play, while
Chamelin has a saves percentage of .797 in her 653 minutes of play.
Virginia
Wesleyan has maintained its perfect record going 16-0 overall and 9-0 in the
conference. The Marlins are led by
Chrissy Clancy (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) with 26 points. Clancy has scored nine
goals and given out eight assists thus far in the season. Laura Weidema (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) is
second in point total for VWC with 23.
She has scored nine goals and given out five assists. At the goalkeeping position, Margie Baker
has played all but 70 minutes for the Marlins for a total of 1058 minutes on
the season. She has a saves percentage
of .870 allowing just 12 goals.
