VWC’s Brandon Adair and Dave Macedo Headline 2005-06 ODAC All-Conference Teams

SALEM, VA – Virginia Wesleyan junior forward Brandon Adair has been named the 2005-06 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Year while Marlin Head Coach Dave Macedo has been named Coach-of-the-Year.

The league announced its all-conference teams Friday night at a pre-tournament banquet held at the Salem Civic Center

A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Adair enters the tournament as the second-leading scorer in the ODAC at 17.8 points a game. Adair is sixth (6.7) in rebounding and second in field goal accuracy shooting at a 63.5 percent clip. He is currently seventh all-time in Marlin history in scoring after surpassing the 1,000 point plateau earlier this season.  Adair has helped lead VWC to the top-seed in the tournament after posting a 17-1 league record.

Macedo was honored by his peers as Coach-of-the-Year after leading Virginia Wesleyan to a 22-3 regular season record.  VWC is currently on a 20-game winning streak heading into this weekend’s tournament.  In six seasons Macedo has compiled a record of 116-45 and helped lead VWC to its second ODAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament just a year ago. This is first ODAC Coach-of-the-Year honor for Macedo.

David Carlson of Randolph-Macon was named ODAC Freshman-of-the-Year by the league’s head coaches.  The 6-foot-4 guard from Woodbridge, Va., is fourth on his team in scoring with 8.5 points a game and is pulling down just over three rebounds in just over 18 minutes per game this season.  He scored a season-high of 23-points on two different occasions.

For the second consecutive season, Bridgewater forward Clay Michael has been named the 2005-06 ODAC Men’s Basketball Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year by the league’s Sports Information Directors.  Michael, who has been a Second-Team All-ODAC selection in each of the last two seasons, was recently nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship.  He is an ESPN All-District First-Team member while sporting a 3.75 GPA while majoring in History and Political Science.  On the court he is among the top-five in several statistical categories and earlier this year scored his 1,000th point

The 2005-06 ODAC Men’s Basketball Tournament is slated to kick off Saturday at the Salem Civic Center with four quarterfinal games beginning at 1:00 p.m.
