Hampden-Sydney, Randolph-Macon Ranked in Men’s Basketball Poll

 

 

Salem, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College basketball team is ranked #4 in the most recent d3hoops.com NCAA Division III men’s basketball poll.  The Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College are tabbed at #11.

 

Hampden-Sydney (5-0, 1-0 ODAC) has been led by seniors Jeff Monroe (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) and Brandon Randall (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) who have contributed 16.8 and 14.6 points per game, respectively.  Senior center Mike Thompson (New Market, Md./Linganore) is averaging a double-double through the first five games of the season, scoring 12.4 points and pulling down 11.2 boards per outing.

 

Randolph-Macon also stands at a perfect 5-0 on the season.  Senior forward Kurt Bergmann (Fallsington, Pa./Pennsbury) has led the Yellow Jackets with 15.8 points per contest.  He is also pulling down a team-high 8.4 boards per game.  Last season’s ODAC Rookie of the Year, Justin Wansley (Richmond, Va./Henrico), ranks second on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game while sophomore guard Patrick Gill (Richmond, Va./Benedictine School) has chipped in with 7.7 points per game.
