Salem, Va.— After winning the conference
championship in 2002-03, the Lynchburg College Hornets have been voted atop the
2003-04 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s indoor track coaches’
poll.
Last season, the Hornet men won
their 16th overall title by out-distancing Bridgewater and Eastern
Mennonite who finished in a tie for second place. Mike Lansdowne of Lynchburg was named the Athlete of the Meet
while Dr. Jack M. Toms of Lynchburg was named Coach of the Year. Lansdowne won the 200 and 400 meter dashes
while placing sixth in the 55-meter dash.
He also anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay team. Lynchburg was also led by Josh Zobenica who
won the 800 and 1500 meter races. Andy
Rollins was also a double winner for the Hornets capturing victories in the
high jump and pole vault.
Steward White led Bridgewater
capturing victories in the long and triple jumps. Myron Gordon won the shot put and Jermaine Taylor won the
55-meter dash. For EMU, Adam Starks won
the 55-meter hurdles and Justin Hawkins won the 3000 meters. Kai Orenic had a busy day finishing second
in the 200 and 400 and placing in the long jump and triple jump.
