- - Virginia Wesleyan’s Kelvin Murray was named the Old Dominion
Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Year at a meeting of the
conference coaches recently.
Bridgewater College head coach Mike Brizendine was selected as the
ODAC’s top coach while the Eagles’ In Meang was named Rookie of the Year.
A sophomore from Virginia
Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes, Murray led the Marlins with 44 points on 15 goals
and 14 assists. He finished first in
the conference in points per game (2.44) and assists per game (0.78), and
finished second in the ODAC in goals per game with 0.83 per contest.
A freshman forward from Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley, Meang
led the Eagles with 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists. He ranked third in the conference in points
with 1.78 per game. Meang also ranked
second in the league in assists (0.56 apg) and fifth in goals per game with
0.61 per outing.
Bridgewater’s Mike Brizendine was selected by his peers as the ODAC’s top coach after leading the Eagles to a school-record 12 wins in 2003. The Eagles’ future looks bright, as they will lose just three players to graduation. Brizendine has tallied a 27-24 overall record through his first three seasons with Bridgewater.
