Roanoke College Men’s Soccer Team Ranked #23 in Nation
W&L, Virginia Wesleyan
and Bridgewater Ranked Regionally
Salem, Va. – The Roanoke College men’s
soccer team is ranked #23 in the most recent National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Poll. In addition, the Maroons are ranked 3rd in the South
Region. Washington and Lee, Virginia
Wesleyan and Bridgewater are ranked eighth, ninth and tenth in the region,
respectively.
The
Maroons are currently 7-2-1 on the season.
Washington and Lee is the lone unbeaten team in the Old Dominion
Athletic Conference (ODAC) with a 5-0-2 record. Virginia Wesleyan sits at 7-2 overall while Bridgewater is having
its best season in school history with a 9-2 start.
Roanoke
is currently led by sophomore Elliott Stallings (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg)
who has tallied 19 points on seven goals and five assists in 10 games. Sophomore midfielder Paul Schwartz
(Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) is second on the team in scoring with three
goals and two assists for eight points.
Harper Thorsen (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) has played 722 minutes in
goal, giving up just five goals and making 17 saves for a .773 saves
percentage.
