Altomonte Named Head Men's Soccer Coach at Bridgewater



Bridgewater, Va. -- Anthony “Nino” Altomonte has been named the new head men’s soccer coach at Bridgewater College.

Altomonte succeeds Mike Brizendine who recently accepted a position as a men’s assistant coach with the Virginia Tech soccer program.

For the past three seasons, Altomonte has served as the head women’s soccer coach at Bridgewater and has worked closely with Brizendine in the men’s program. The women’s teams posted a 21-25-5 overall record during his three years as head coach.

Altomonte has been a men’s soccer head coach and an assistant at the Division I level. From 1980-85, he was the head coach at Virginia Military Institute and his 1982 team finished second in the Southern Conference. He was an assistant at James Madison University from 1985-1995 and again from 1998-99. During his time at JMU, the Dukes won four CAA titles and made four trips to the NCAA tournament.

A search will begin immediately to fill the women’s soccer head coaching position.
