Lynchburg Dedicates New Press Box in Honor of Wooldridge
Recognizes former ODAC Commissioner and LC Hall of
Famer
LYNCHBURG, Va. ---
Lynchburg College dedicated the Dan Wooldridge Press box on
Wednesday afternoon on Fox Field, home of the Hornet baseball
team. Dr. Kenneth Garren, Lynchburg College President, Dr.
Jack Toms, LC director of athletics, Wooldridge and Stuart Fauber,
Chair of the Board of Trustees, spoke before the unveiling of the
plaque outside the two-level press box. Other renovations to Fox
Field include batting cages, relocation of the outfield fence and
field regrading.
Wooldridge is a member of the Sports Hall at Lynchburg College,
where he starred in basketball, baseball and soccer. He played
minor league baseball with the Pittsburg Pirates organization.
Wooldridge began officiating college basketball in 1963 and
continued for 23 years in a vast variety of positions and settings.
He worked 21 years in the ACC as well as other conferences.
Retiring from basketball officially in 1986, Wooldridge became
Commissioner of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 1976, a
post he held until 1997.
