Interviews with RC's Pilat and W&L's Diamond
The championship theme continues in this edition of the ODAC
Podcast, and there’s plenty for Brad and J.J. to talk
about. Only the men’s lacrosse championship remains as
teams prepare to tune in to the NCAA for selections to their
respective NCAA Division III national tournaments.
Over the past few weeks, seven tournaments and championship events
have completed, including those in men’s and women’s
track, men’s and women’s tennis, baseball, softball and
women’s lacrosse. After overviews of those first six
events, Washington and Lee women’s lacrosse coach, Brooke
Diamond, and Roanoke men’s lacrosse coach, Bill Pilat, join
the podcast to discuss the state of their teams and what to expect
as the NCAA draws near.
Diamond is in the midst of her third season in Lexington, having
led the Generals to the 2008 and recently completed 2010 ODAC
titles. W&L earned the ODAC’s automatic bid into
the NCAA tournament, and waits to find out where and when it will
play.
Newly crowned ODAC Coach of the Year Pilat and his Maroons square
off with Lynchburg in the ODAC men’s lacrosse championship on
Sunday. Roanoke, ranked fifth in the nation and second in the
region, is the #1 team in the nation in scoring heading into
Sunday’s title game with the 15th ranked
Hornets.
