LC Leads Commissioner's Cups Rankings
Hornets Lead Men's Cup, Yellow Jackets Atop Women's Ranks
FOREST, Va. --- The 2012 Old Dominion
Athletic Conference (ODAC) winter championships have all come to a
close and the race for the Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion
Cup, sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance, is underway.
Lynchburg College is atop the current rankings for the overall cup
and the men’s cup, while Randolph-Macon College is
currently first in the women's ranks.
Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud sponsor for the Dan Wooldridge
Overall Champions Cup and the Men and Women's Commissioner's
Cups. Farm Bureau and the ODAC continue their partnership in
focusing on the strength of the conference's student-athletes and
maintaining the NCAA Division III philosophy of the complete
student-athlete experience. Aside from supporting the ODAC
Commissioners' Cups, Farm Bureau is the sponsor of the ODAC's
sport-by-sport scholar-athlete awards.
As determined by the ODAC Board of Directors, points for the
Commissioner's Cups are based on regular-season standings in team
sports and championship team finishes in individual sports.
Each institution has a total number of possible points it can
collect based on its individual sport sponsorship. The total
number of points earned is then divided by the total number of
possible points to determine the ranking for each institution.
Lynchburg, which has not won the overall sport trophy since
2001-02, currently has 77.0 points out of a
possible 100.0 points for an overall rating of .770. The
Hornets were crowned conference champions in men’s indoor
track this winter. In the fall, LC captured the men's cross
country, field hockey and women’s soccer titles.
Randolph-Macon College owns a .765 rating, having earned 62.0
of a possible 81.0 points to sit in second position.
Washington and Lee University is third overall with a .716
mark, collecting 83.0 points out of 116.0.
In the men's ranks, Lynchburg tops the group with a .775 rating
(31.0-of-40.0 points earned). Randolph-Macon occupies the
second spot with a .759 clip (22.0-of-29.0), and Virginia Wesleyan
College holds down the third position with a .663 mark
(26.5-of-40.0).
Randolph-Macon leads the women's cup race, having racked up 40.0 of
a possible 52.0 points for a .769 rating. Lynchburg and
