ODAC Players of the Week

FOOTBALL
Patrick Thomas,Catholic

Thomas, a sophomore from Newtown,
N.J., played a big part in the Cardinals second ODAC win of the
season, which came in a 34-7 win over Shenandoah University. The
Cardinals held SU to 236 yards of total offense and forced five
turnovers in the effort. Thomas was responsible for two of those
turnovers. He got things started with an interception midway
through the first quarter that stopped the Hornets as they tried to
level the score at 7-all. In the second quarter, Thomas came up
from his cornerback position to make a stop at the line of
scrimmage, but he also jarred the ball free from the runner and
picked up the loose ball. Three plays later, Catholic made good on
the extra possession with a touchdown for a 13-0 lead. Thomas
finished the day with five total tackles (three solo) and also
batted down a pass, one of six passes broken up by the CUA defense.
For the season, Thomas is third on the team with 32 tackles with a
pair of interceptions.

FOOTBALL
Matt
Pawlowski,Guilford,Fr.,Quarterback
Pawlowski, a freshman from Greensboro,
N.C., led Guilford from a pair of deficits to post their second
league win of the season and their first win over Bridgewater
College since 2006. In the Quakers 23-20 win, Pawlowski was
efficient and effective as he completed 18-of-26 passes for 258
yards and two touchdowns without an interception for the second
straight week. He had a hand in each of Guilford's touchdowns as he
also ran for a score in addition to completed a two-point pass.
Pawlowski completed passes to seven different receivers. He hit
Adam Smith with a 22-yard TD pass in the second quarter, and then
gave Guilford its first lead at 15-14 with a 1-yard touchdown run.
After Bridgewater went ahead 20-14, Pawlowski tossed the eventual
game-winning 10-yard touchdown pass to Nick Mearite with 7:13 to
play. His two-point pass to Mearite made it 23-20. On the season,
Pawlowski has 11 touchdown passes against just four interceptions
while completing 59.9-percent of his attempts.

FIELD HOCKEY
Amber VanHorn, Sheanndoah, Sr.,
Defender
VanHorn, a senior from Slatedale, Pa.,
helped the Hornets to a 2-1 week which featured their third ODAC
win of the season. After a 3-2 overtime loss to Washington and Lee,
VanHorn notched three goals in SU's remaining two games. She scored
twice off penalty corners in a 3-2 win over St. Mary's (Md.) on
Thursday. She followed that up with the game's only goal in a 1-0
win over Roanoke. VanHorn now has 17 points and eight goals on the
season.

GOLF
Elizabeth Cheng, Hollins,
Junior
Cheng, a junior from Virginia Beach,
Va., continues her consistent strong play for the Hollins golf team
as she led HU to a ninth place finish at the Pat Clouse
Invitational, hosted by Wittenberg University. Cheng fired a
14-over par 158 (80-78) to place in a tie for third out of 91
golfers on the 5,800-yard par 72 track at the Springfield Country
Club in Springfield, Ohio. She finished three strokes behind the
leader. Cheng has participated in four events this fall with a pair
of wins and a second place showing in addition to this weekend's
third place finish.

MEN'S SOCCER
Robert Stephens, Hampden-Sydney, So.,
Forward
Stephens, a sophomore from
Williamsburg, Va., scored three goals and posted one assist en
route to helping the Tigers topple two of the top teams in the ODAC
this week. Against a Lynchburg team that had allowed only one goal
in ODAC play and was coming off five straight shutouts, Stephens
scored twice on the Hornets and assisted on the third score in a
3-0 H-SC win. He followed up against Bridgewater with one goal in a
second 3-0 triumph for the Tigers. Stephens has scored all 13 of
his points this season in the last three games, all ODAC
contests.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Dessi Dupuy, Lynchburg, So.,
Forward
Dupuy, a sophomore from Lynchburg,
Va., picks up her second straight weekly award after scoring seven
times last week to lead the Hornets to a 2-0-1 week. With LC
leading 1-0 against Randolph-Macon, Dupuy broke the game open with
four straight tallies to push the Hornets to a 5-0 conference win.
She followed that up by helping LC claw out of a 2-0 hole as she
notched the first of Lynchburg's two goals in a 2-2 tie with
Roanoke College. She finished her week with two more goals in a 4-1
win over regionally-ranked Salisbury University. She notched the
would-be game-winner for a 2-1 lead at halftime, and then added
some insurance with the fourth goal of the game in the 76th minute.
For the season, Dupuy is tied for second in the ODAC with 12 goals
and is tied for fifth with 26 points.

SWIMMING
Stephanie Foster, Washington and Lee,
Fr.
Foster, a freshman from Columbia, Md.,
kicked her collegiate swimming career with a splash as she helped
Washington and Lee to a 1-1 showing in a tri-meet with Centre
College and DePauw University. Foster recorded two event wins with
times of 1:01.87 in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:14.30 in the
200-yard backstroke. She also was a member of the 200-yard medley
relay that placed second in a time of 1:53.76.

VOLLEYBALL
M.A. Boles, Washington and Lee, Jr.,
Outside Hitter
Boles, a junior from Houston, Texas,
helped the Generals to a 4-0 showing this past week, which included
an ODAC win over Shenandoah. Boles connected for 47 total kills
with double figures in each of her three matches played. She
averaged 3.92 kills for the week while also collected 52 digs and
six aces. She had a pair of double-doubles with 18 kills and 19
digs in a 3-1 win over Rhodes College. She followed that with 6
winners and a career-high 28 digs in a 3-2 win over Berry College.
Boles notched a pair of aces in each match. The 47 kills moved
Boles into eighth place on the W&L's all-time kills list with
1,114 winners.

CROSS COUNTRY
Luke Sohl, Bridgewater,
So.
Sohl, a sophomore from Burke, Va.,
paced the Eagles as the CNU Invitational on Saturday. The 2011 ODAC
Rookie of the Year crossed the finish line in 25:25.69 to finish
second overall on the eight-kilometer course. Sohl's time is the
faster on an 8K course in the ODAC this season. Sohl's efforts
helped Bridgewater to a third place team finish.

CROSS COUNTRY
Kaylee Kubisiak, Bridgewater,
Fr.
Kubisiak, a freshman from Abbottstown,
Pa., picks up her second weekly award of the season. The Eagles'
rookie has competed in just two events, but it didn't take her long
to post her first meet victory as she topped the field at the CNU
Invitational on Saturday. Her time of 22:27.70 over the
six-kilometer course was 7.91 seconds faster that teammate Olivia
Mills, who finished second overall. Bridgewater placed fourth as a
team.
