Marlins Upset W&L, Hornets Roll Over R-MC
April 30, 2008
SALEM,
Va. ---
Virginia Wesleyan College continued its impressive run
through a thickly-packed ODAC men's lacrosse schedule
with a 13-12 victory over second-seeded and 19th-ranked
Washington and Lee University on Wednesday evening.
The Marlins victory, coupled with Lynchburg College's
22-5 trumping of Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday, sets
up Sunday's ODAC Championship in Lynchburg at 1:00 p.m.
The Marlins
(11-6) have beaten three of the four ODAC squads that
were included in just about every major preseason
publication's top 25 teams. The victory over W&L
avenged a 9-6 loss to the Generals during regular season
play. VWC had already beaten early national
favorites Hampden-Sydney College and Roanoke College
during normal league action.
To earn that
fourth high-profile win, the Marlins will have to knock
off the nationally fourth-ranked Hornets (15-2), a feat
no other ODAC squad was able to accomplish in the
regular season. Lynchburg got the best of VWC,
13-9, in Virginia Beach in early April.
Game time for the ODAC Championship is set for 1:00 p.m.
on Sunday, May 4, at Lynchburg College.
