WLU, RC Win Women's Lacrosse Semis
Sets Up 1-2 Finals Matchup

LEXINGTON, Va. --- Washington and Lee University and Roanoke both advanced in the ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournametn, setting up a match up of the tourney's top two seeds in Sunday's championship contest.
 
Washington and Lee (16-2) outscored fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon College (6-10) 6-1 in the second half to pull away for an 11-4 semifinals' victory.  Britten Mathews scored four goals, two in each half, to lead the Generals' offense.  Emily Mathews, Christine Bender and Katie Flippen each notched a pair of tallies while Meredith Freeman supplied the remaining score.  Logan Pomeroy registed a pair of goals for the Yellow Jackets with Morgan Hutchinson and Erin Clare Cassidy adding one apiece.  Sarah Tilbor made six saves between the pipes for Washington and Lee while Lindsay Schabert stopped 13 shots for R-MC.
 
The second semifinal took nearly seven hours to complete as weather forced four ours of delays and prompted a field change from grass to turf.  Roanoke College (10-7) survived the weather and a stout Virginia Wesleyan College (12-6) squad to earn a 15-11 win and meeting with W&L in the championship.  Gina Valles paced the Maroons with seven points on six goals and an assist.  Amanda Hutchins and Sunny Ray chipped in a pair of goals each with Ella Wade, Cristen Sanfilippo and Paige Mason adding one apiece.  Katlyn Scarlett made 12 saves protecting the RC net with eight stops coming in the second half.
 
Aimee Sraver led VWC with four goals to go along with a pair from Jillian Boyd.  Anna Kate Collier, Kasey Marchwicki, Laura Norris and Katie Johns also notched Marlin tallies.  Ashley Sippel kept stopped seven on-target shots from the Maroons.
 
The championship game is set for Sunday, April 27, in Lexington, Va.  The start time has been changed from its original scheduling due to Saturday's weather and will now begin at 2:30 p.m.
