ODAC All-Conference Football Teams Announced

SALEM , VA – Hampden-Sydney running back CW Clemmons and Bridgewater defensive lineman Lawrence Frierson have been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive and Defensive Players-of-the-Year as the league announced its all-conference teams on Tuesday.

Clemmons received the award named after former Tiger great Stokeley Fulton. This season, Clemmons had a league best 1,098-yards and scored nine touchdowns.  He helped lead  HSC to an 8-2 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the league.  The senior from Covington , VA , finished his career as the ODAC leader in points with 282 and tied Emory and Henry’s Oliver Jordan (1996-‘99) for career touchdowns with 46.

Clemmons was also named Football Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year by the league’s sports information directors.  A chemistry major with a 3.2 gpa, Clemmons is a three-time ODAC All-Academic Team and Dean’s List member.

Frierson helped lead Bridgewater to its fourth consecutive league title and its fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament in as many years.  Frierson, a senior from Stafford , VA , made 42 tackles, 11 of which were for a loss of yards and he record three sacks during the season.

The Tigers Drew Smith was named Rookie-of-the-Year.  A native of Richmond , VA , Smith established a new scoring record for Tiger freshmen receivers in 2004 as he caught 30 passes for 648 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Washington and Lee’s Frank Miriello was named Coach-of-the-Year by his peers.  This is the third time in his 10-years at W&L that Miriello has received the award.  Picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll, Miriello led his Generals to a 6-4 overall record and third-place in the league with a 4-2 mark.
