Constitution and Bylaws

Constitution 

ARTICLE 1:  Name

The Name of this organization will be the "Student-Athletic Advisory Committee." 

ARTICLE 2:  Purposes

The purposes of this Committee are:

(a) To promote communication between athletics administration and student-athletes

(b) To provide feedback and insight into athletics department issues

(c) To build a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletics teams

(d) To promote a positive student-athlete image on campus

(e) To generate a student-athlete voice within the campus athletics department formulation
      of policies

(f) To disseminate information

(g) To create a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees

(h) To act as student-athlete mentors

(i) To educate the student body and promote a healthy lifestyle 

ARTICLE 3:  Fundamental Policy

SAAC is a committee made up of Student-athlete representatives.  Our purpose is to promote and aid communication between student-athletes, administration, and the Sweet Briar community.  We also strongly promote and support athletics on campus while serving as mentors to student-athletes. 

Bylaws 

ARTICLE 1:  Membership

1.1  Composition

The SAAC committee will consist of one team or coach selected member from each varsity team.  The member may be from any class standing. 

1.2  Duties and Responsibilities

Members will serve as a vehicle between the committee and her team.  They will bring concerns and ideas from the team to the committee and/or administration. 

        1.2.1 The committee will meet two times a month.  Additional meetings will be
        scheduled when necessary.  Executive officers (i.e. President and/or Vice President) will
        determine meeting times. 

        1.2.2 Attendance is mandatory.  All absences must be cleared through the secretary.  If
        a member has more than two un-excused absences, a new representative will be
        chosen. 

ARTICLE 3: Advisors

There will be one advisor to the SAAC.  Jason Gallaher, the head swim coach at Sweet Briar College, will oversee all operations and concerns.
