Roanoke’s Slusher Sets ODAC Career Mark
Senior Sets Career Kills Record

Salem, Va. --Roanoke College volleyball player Melissa Slusher (Altavista, Va./Altavista) recently broke the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) record for career kills.  The outside hitter tallied a season-high 27 kills in a 3-1 win over Emory & Henry on Tuesday evening to surpass the previous record of 1,519 held by Lindsay Ruckert of Washington and Lee (1998-01).  Slusher now has 1,520 kills in her career.

            Slusher ranks seventh in the ODAC in kills on the season with 3.61 per game.  She has tallied 341 kills and 276 digs this season to rank second on the Maroon squad in both categories.

With the win over the Wasps, the Roanoke College volleyball team reached the 20-win plateau for the second consecutive season.  The Maroons improve to 20-9 overall and run their winning streak to seven matches. The Maroons also improve to 6-2 in the ODAC.

Roanoke will travel to Randolph-Macon College on Thursday to face a Yellow Jackets team who is currently a perfect 7-0 in the conference and 19-3 overall.
