Lynchburg garnered top billing in the first ODAC preseason poll of the spring as the league’s coaches tabbed the Hornets atop the annual baseball survey. Lynchburg received 90 total poll points and four first place votes. Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon sit tight in second and third with 81 and 80 points, respectively. The Yellow Jackets earned three top nods.

The eighth-seeded Washington and Lee baseball team fell, 3-2, to top-seeded and third ranked Salisbury on the opening day of South Region play in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

Washington and Lee University’s Terrence McKelvey took home a pair of awards in the annual selection of the All-ODAC Baseball Teams on Wednesday afternoon. The senior outfielder was named the ODAC Player of the Year in a vote of the conference’s coaches, and he earned the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award.

The No. 6 seeded Washington and Lee baseball team scored six runs in a decisive first inning as it captured the school’s first ODAC Baseball Tournament title with a 10-6 victory over No. 2 seeded Virginia Wesleyan Sunday from City Stadium.
