ODAC Equestrian Championship Preview
Teams Ready For Action At Randolph
FOREST, Va. --- A great deal of parity amongst the Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools will be showcased on Friday, April 6 at the 2012 ODAC Equestrian Championship. The championship will take place at the Randolph College Riding Center and Lynchburg College will serve as the host of the event.
Hollins University won its second straight and conference-best 19th crown with a total of 21 points at the 2011 championship. Sweet Briar College and Washington and Lee University tied with 11 points apiece, but it was the Vixens that were awarded the Reserve finish. Bridgewater College and Randolph posted eight-point days, while Lynchburg secured seven markers.
HU's Emma Lane Poole recorded a 84.375 average over three disciplines to top the 10-rider All-ODAC Team and earn ODAC Rider of the Year honors. Hollins head coach Sandy Gerald collected a second-straight ODAC Coach of the Year award, her sixth overall accolade. Sweet Briar's Olivia Smith was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year, having also earned a spot on the All-ODAC Team. The Generals' Tamara Morse also turned a double, positioning herself on the All-ODAC Team and winning her second straight ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Rider Award.
