ODAC Football Report: Week 10

Championship Still Open with One Week Left
Just one week remains in the ODAC football season, and for the third straight year the conference champion won't be decided until the final regular season whistle blows. Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon were both victorious on Saturday, setting up "The Game" as the venue that will decide the ODAC title. Guilford and Emory & Henry also posted victories on Saturday, bringing them both within a win of evening their conference records.
Randolph-Macon topped Bridgewater, 33-23, to stay in the hunt for the ODAC title. Randolph-Macon reeled off 19 straight points to open the second half to rally from a halftime. Freshman running back Drake Sanders came off the bench and rushed for 155 yards on 24 carries. Quarterback Austin Faulkner was 9-of-14 for 159 and one passing touchdown. He also had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the win. Christian Stahl led the defense with 12 stops. For BC, Tyler Beiler had four catches for 123 yards that included a 77-yard touchdown strike. Defensively, Chris Wholey led the unit with eight tackles.
Emory & Henry got three touchdowns out of quarterback Drew Piscopo in defeating Washington and Lee, 23-16. Piscopo threw for two scores and ran for another. Caleb Jennings racked up a season-high 315 all-purpose yards, including 188 rushing to push him past the 1,000-yard mark and retake the lead on the ODAC rushing lists. Defensively, Ed Smith and Shane Wicks each had 10 tackles. For Washington and Lee, its season ends a week earlier than the rest with its bye week scheduled for week 11. Jonathan Clemo ran for 96 yards and a touchdown. He finishes with 923 yards on the season. Kicker Martin Pritchard made three field goals, the longest being 37 yards. Defensively, Donavon Sawyer led the way with 13 tackles and a fumble recovery.
Guilford's defense forced nine turnovers in helping the Quakers to a 42-21 at Catholic. Jordan Nelson intercepted a school-record four passes, tying an ODAC single-game mark in the process. Mike Williams finished with 94 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. He also caught six passes for 49 yards and a score. Quarterback Billy Watkins completed 27-of-44 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran 18 times for 45 yards and a touchdown. Justin Parker made a game-high nine grabs for 78 yards and a score. Linebacker Richie Paul paced the Quakers' tacklers with 13 stops. Teammate David LaPlaca added two interceptions for Guilford. For Catholic, quarterback Dylan Knight ran for 141 yards and a touchdown. He also threw for one before leaving the game in the second quarter. Rich Barry had 15 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown. Avatus Stone made a game-high 17 tackles and broke up a pass.
Hampden-Sydney made a major statement within the region with a
59-14 win over Salisbury. Quarterback Corey Seldar completed
31-of-49 passes (63%) for 257 yards and a career-high six
touchdowns. He completed passes to 11 different receivers,
connected with five different players on scoring strikes.
Kyle Vance caught a pair of touchdowns. Defensively, the
Tigers held Salisbury to 47 yards passing and 245 yards of total
offense. Boaz Young-el returned an interception 31 yards for
a touchdown to highlight the effort.
