FOREST, Va. --- The 2012 campaign is underway with
five ODAC teams winning their season-opening contests.
Catholic University got it all started on Friday night with a
win over McDaniel College (45-28), and the winning ways continued
on Saturday with Bridgewater College defeating St. Vincent College
(23-7), Emory & Henry College topping Ferrum College (45-36),
Hampden-Sydney College ousting Averett University (20-6), and
Shenandoah winning its first game as a member of the ODAC over
Stevenson University (26-16). Three teams begin the season
0-1 as Guilford College fell to Greensboro (14-13) in the annual
Gate City Soup Bowl, Randolph-Macon College lost to Johns Hopkins
University (36-13), and Washington and Lee University was topped by
Franklin & Marshall College (35-28).
This week's Players of the Week come from Catholic and Emory &
Henry. CUA senior defensive back Drew Pappas not only help
keep points off the board, but we tacked on six when we pounced on
a blocked punt in the McDaniel end zone in the third quarter.
E&H quarterback Kyle Boden kept the Wasps' offense
humming as he fired four touchdown passes without an interception
in E&H's sixth straight win over Ferrum in the Western Virginia
Education Classic.
