Five More Wins for Conference Teams

FOREST, Va. ---
For the second straight weekend, five teams enjoyed the victory column including the trio of Bridgewater College, Emory & Henry College and Hampden-Sydney College moving to 2-0.  The Eagles controlled just about everything in defeating Greensboro College, 33-7.  The same could be said for the Wasps as they trudged through a weather-effected contest to top Maryville College, 21-8.  The Tigers' offense carried it to a 35-0 halftime lead in what would eventually become a 42-20 victory.

Randolph-Macon College and Washington and Lee University evened their records at 1-1 with their first wins of the season.  The Yellow Jackets, in front of a packed house at the unveiling of the new Day Field on the R-MC campus in Ashland, sent Averett University to 0-2 with a 21-6 decision.  The Generals went on the road to Sewanee and saw Luke Heinsohn score three touchdowns in topping the Colonels, 28-6.

Catholic University, Guilford College and Shenandoah University came up on the short-side in their contests.  On Friday evening, the Cardinals fell to Gallaudet University, 47-27, marking CUA's first loss to the Bison in 26 overall meetings.  The Quakers put up 14 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as they fell to Methodist, 34-21.  The Hornets and Ferrum College were locked in fight where points were at a premium as neither squad could crack the scoreboard in the first half.  The Panthers tacked on 14 third quarter points, while SU added a score early in the fourth quarter.  Ferrum held on the remainder of the frame for a 14-7 win.

This week's ODAC Players of the Week come from Hampden-Sydney and Emory & Henry.  H-SC signal-caller Nash Nance gave the Tiger faithful plenty to cheer about in his home debut as the sophomore fired five touchdown passes and connected with 10 different receivers.  Just six of his 31 pass attempts missed the target as he finished 25-of-31 (80.6%) for 339 yards without an interception.  E&H linebacker Paul Forney spearheaded a Wasps' defense that allowed just 166 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers.  He notched a team-high 12 tackles and forced a fumble that was scooped up and returned for a touchdown in the third quarter.
