His efforts led to five touchdowns in seven first-half possessions on the way to a 35-0 lead at the intermission.

Defensive Player of the Week
Paul Forney | Emory & Henry | Jr. | Linebacker
Forney, a junior from Newton, N.C., helped the Wasps started the season 2-0 by leading a dominating defensive performance in a 21-8 win on the road at Maryville College (Tenn.). Forney led the unit with 12 total tackles (5 solo stops) that included 1.5 tackles for a loss for minus-10 yards. He also teamed up with Michael Shipley on a quarterback sack. Forney's biggest play of the day came in the third quarter when he charred the ball loose from Maryville's Blake Williams and Evan Williamson picked it up at the MC four-yard line and returned it to the end zone for a Wasps' touchdown. On the day, E&H allowed just 166 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers.
BRIDGEWATER moved to 2-0 on the season with
a strong across the board effort in a 33-7 victory over Greensboro.
Offensively, the Eagles used excellent field position to put three
touchdowns on the board, with each scoring drive starting in
Greensboro territory. Sophomore Jacob Wright paced the offense with
a 98-yard effort on 13 carries. Wright added a score on a 38-yard
scamper in the second quarter. Junior Willie Logan was 7-of-18 for
59 yards on the afternoon, while John Lezcano and Tyler Moneymaker
led the way for the receivers with three catches each. Sophomore
Jordan Hartman was impressive in the return game, handling the bulk
of the punt and kick return duties. Hartman returned a punt 69
yards to the endzone in the second quarter to blow the game open
and finished the day with 149 total return yards. The Eagles'
defense put points on the board for the second straight week
with a safety and held its second consecutive opponent under 100
yards on the ground. The Eagles forced four straight three and outs
to open the game and limited the Greensboro offense to just 240
yards and a 3-of-15 effort on third down. Linebacker Andrew
Palmer's seven-tackle effort paced the way for the Eagles, while
Darrick Gore and Salem Nganga each chipped in six tackles in the
victory.
