Lane, a senior from Richmond, Va., was nearly flawless in
the Tigers’ 56-17 win over North Carolina Wesleyan on
Saturday. The Richmond native completed 28 of his 32 attempts while
throwing for 389 yards and seven touchdowns. Lane’s 87.5%
completion percentage and seven touchdowns both rank second in ODAC
history, and his seven scores tie a Hampden-Sydney record. Lane got
the offense going from the start, scoring on the third play of the
game. He led the Tigers on two more scoring drives in the quarter
with five- and nine-yard touchdown passes. The second quarter
brought another touchdown pass on a five-yard play to Kyle Vance.
On the next drive, Lane led the Tigers 98 yards for the touchdown.
Lane went 3-for-3 for 71 yards. The third quarter brought two more
scores from Lane with a 25-yard pass to Vance and a one-play
scoring drive via a 50-yard pass to Dallas Steelman. Lane capped
his day with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Vance in the fourth
quarter, the fourth time the duo connected on scoring plays.
