Kirk Rohle, Hampden-Sydney, Senior, Running Back
Rohle, a senior from Mechanicsville, Va., carried the Tiger
offense in the 63-49 win over Guilford with five touchdowns and 232
all purpose yards. On the ground, the senior back ran for four
scores and 139 yards on 22 carries while averaging 6.3
yards-per-touch. Through the air, Rohle averaged 18.6
yards-per-catch hauling in five passes for 93 yards and a score.
When the Tigers were down 14-0 early, Rohle was the first to move
the chains and find the end zone for the Tigers. The Tigers could
not get a first down in the first quarter, but Rohle then accounted
for 38 of the 51 yards needed to score early in the second quarter
to cut the deficit to 14-7. He then tacked on two more touchdowns
to end the second quarter, while giving the Tigers their first lead
of the day – one they would not give up. He continued his
work into the third quarter scoring both of Hampden-Sydney’s
touchdowns – his first on a seven yard run and second on a
43-yard reception. His longest rush came on a 41-yard run that set
up his fourth touchdown of the day.
