Hornets Earn NCAA First Round Bye

 Coming off its sixth-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title, the Lynchburg College field hockey team has earned a bye in the first-round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Hornets will play the winner of the first-round game between Catholic University and Eastern College on Saturday, November 12 at The College of New Jersey. Game times for the upcoming games will be announced later in the week.

Lynchburg (18-1) comes into the tournament ranked third in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll, and is the sixth seed in the tournament bracket. LC defeated Randolph-Macon College on Saturday 7-0 to earn the ODAC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament for the eighth consecutive season, stretching back to 2005.

Catholic (16-1) won its first Landmark Conference title on Saturday with a 5-1win over Drew University. Eastern (12-8) won its fourth-straight Freedom Conference title to advance into the tournament. Both teams will face off in the first round game on Wednesday.

The NCAA Division III National Championship will take place in Dudley, Massachusetts on November 20.
