BC's Hartman, RC's Yerkes All-Americans

LC's Flynn Falls 0.11 Short of All-America Status

DePAUW, Ind. --- Bridgewater College senior Courtney Hartman and Roanoke College senior Robin Yerkes headlined a strong showing for the ODAC at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships, hosted by DePauw University (Ind.).  Hartman and Yerkes earned All-American honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their top-8 finishes in their respective events.

Hartman finished sixth in a field of 17 competitors in the pentathlon, racking up a personal-best 3,314 points in the five-event affair.  Her second All-America honor following an award from the 2009 outdoor heptathlon, Hartman posted her best mark in the shot put as she tossed the apparatus 36-feet 6-inches to rank third in the event.  The pentathlon also includes the 800-meter run (8th; 2:29.39), long jump (5th; 16-feet 8-inches), high jump (T-10th; 5-feet 0.5-inches) and 55-meter hurdles (11th; 9.01 seconds).

Yerkes secured her ninth career NCAA Division III All-America honor, picking up her most recent honor with a record-breaking performance in the 400-meter dash.  Yerkes set a D-III seasonal-top time of 56.42 seconds in the preliminary heat before churning out a 56.04 display that was topped by Calvin College's Rachel Boerner by nine-100ths of a second (55.95).  Yerkes time set a new Roanoke and ODAC record, eclipsing her previous mark of 56.09 seconds in her national championship run a year ago.

Lynchburg College standout and 2009 NCAA Division III Cross Country Champion, Ricky Flynn, came 0.11 seconds short of securing his sixth All-America honor.  The senior Hornet posted a time of 14:56.47 to finish ninth, one spot short of All-America status.

Flynn was joined by Lynchburg women's teammate, LaCear Hubbard.  The Hornets' freshman won the ODAC title in the long jump, but didn't leap far enough in the national preliminaries.  Her best mark of the meet was 5.21 meters (17-feet 1.25-inches).
